Further stuffLet us look back at the track record "....a small amount of redevelopment is proposed. There will not be "luxury flats"all over the estate...." From a letter sent to Mile End residents in 2004 from Maureen McEleny (LBTH Director of Housing). Read it here (PDF download)

Demolition of 1 -14 Brokesley Street
The proposed demolition of 1 - 14 Brokesly st should be halted in favour of refurbishment. The building is still in its useful life and ideally suited to refurbishment for its intended use - to house the elderly and disabled rather than building faux Victorian 9-person family homes with no playspace, parking or an upgrade to the current problematic water supply and sewage systems. Putting over 50 children on a traffic-heavy street, far away from the playspace on Eric & Treby and the British Estate, and putting the old into tower blocks seem absurd.
