Minutes of MECHT meeting(s)
Several residents have requested the minutes of the Resident board meeting which took place Thursday 16 April 2009 at 'The Centre', the new community hall on British Street. But FOUR weeks on they are STILL not available to us! We keep being told they need to be passed by the chair. So what is the matter with the Chair? Is he away? Is he ill? In that case surely the vice-chair takes over his role?
Observers who wished to attend the meeting on the night were fobbed off with far fetched excuses for not being let in: Not enough room, health and safety inspection not taken place yet, no insurance. The EEH May newsletter has a picture of the opening of the hall 6 March. And the previous MECHT meeting took place there 26 February (note: a closed meeting with no observers!).
This is just another example of EEH information mess-up / withholding...???? I wonder...

Minutes from MECHT meeting 23 July 2009 - not out.
At the MECHT meeting 23 July observers asked if minutes from the meetings could be made available soon after a meeting - as opposed to just before the next meeting, as has been the case so far. Residents on the board requested the same as it would help them prepare for the following meeting.
The minutes are not ready at the moment (a week before the next meeting). Even if they will be available on Monday this will only be four days in advance.
Are EastendHomes listening...?
As a by the by:
In an email dated Friday 25 September, EastendHomes “hope to have an agreed set by the end of next week...” and “... advise that you contact the Mile End office week beginning 5th October to check that they are available.”
But the next meeting is this Thursday - 1 October!
Will the minutes from the previous meeting really not be ready til after the next...???
Things in order at EastendHomes!

Next MECHT date confirmed from Wager Street - 15 October 19.00
The time and venue for the next Mile End Community Housing Trust meeting has just been confirmed by the Wager Street Housing Office.
British Street Centre at 19.00 on the 15th October
Nine weeks after the previous meeting on the 23 July....
No news on minutes.
Minutes from meetings.
Lene - By not providing the minutes I think they are breaking the boards constitution, start s STAGE ONE COMPLAINT to the Chief Exec. Ask WHY the minutes are not available as it all looks very ominous.Send a copy of the complaint to your MP and ask him to back you. Sign the complaint with as many residents as possible.EEE MUST answer you within 28 days!Question - When does your board come up for re-election?
Can you get a copy of your boards constitution and post it on this site?
WRITE to Peter Griffiths and ask WHEN your board was re-elected, ask him for copies of estate consultation flyers advising that election.

Public Meeting
Lamentable! I suggest that the first quuestion asked at the next meeting is why are they holding public meetings in venues not open to the public.
MECHT meeting Thursday 23 July 2009
The next resident board meeting for Mile End East estates - MECHT meeting - is Thursday 23 July 2009 7PM at 'The Centre' on British Street estate: it's in the Maha building opposite the two shops that are still left in Merchant Street.
Observers, i.e. residents not on the board, ARE allowed to attend this one, and questions will usually get attention even when asked on the night and not in advance.
Needless to say, the minutes from the last meeting (11 June) are not available yet!!!!

MECHT ~ Minutes out this week.
News from EEH Wager Street Office is that the minutes have been signed and will be available at sometime this week. Strong indications of a board meeting on the 4th June (not yet confirmed).
This will be the first public meeting since before Christmas. There was a closed meeting on 26 February and the aborted (as far as residents were concerned) 16 April meet (see above). So how does this fit in with EEH commitment to resident involvement. "Enabling residents to have a real say and influence over what we do and decide".
No public meeting for Mile End residents for six months.
No attempt to find an alternative venue for the 16 April meet.
...and then there was the "Residents Conference 2009" on 28 April - no attempt was made on Eric and Treby to publicise the event and I am sure the same applies to all other EEH estates. As a result maybe a maximum of 50 residents turned up - from a total of 3500 households on EEH estates.
MECHT ~ minutes delayed...... no ETA!!
Phoned Wager Street - now the story is "the minutes have not been agreed"
6 weeks and no agreed minutes........ What are these people doing!
