Bonfires and Firework Patrols

last modified  29/10/2010 15:00 PM

As we near Bonfire Night, EastendHomes will be putting on extra patrols to clear our estates of bulk rubbish and flammable materials which could pose a fire risk on our estates. Every evening  from Sunday 31st October until after Bonfire Night, a group of EastendHomes operatives from across all our areas will be inspecting our estates and removing any items considered hazardous.

This service will be particularly important this year given the threatened strikes by firefighters. Residents can play their part in keeping fire risks to a minimum by having any bulky items of rubbish collected by the Council's free Streetline service. Each household can have up to two free collections per year - call 0207 364 5004 to arrange a collection.

At this time of year it is particularly important to remember that fireworks and bonfires can be a safety hazard as well as brightening up the lengthening evenings. Residents are reminded that no bonfires are permitted at any time on EastendHomes land. The London Fire Brigade provide safety advice on how to properly and safely enjoy these activities.

If you observe anti-social behaviour featuring the misuse of fireworks, you can report it to the LBTH Anti-Social Behaviour Hotline on 0800 917 5918.
