Contractors appointed to start improvements programme at Mile End
Following the evaluation of tender submissions the following contractors have been appointed to undertake the first phase of the improvement works to the Mile End estates:
Apollo - British Street estate
T H Kenyon - Eric/Treby estates
Mulalley - Bede estate
The first phase of the work comprises the installation of new kitchens and bathrooms and new secure front entrance doors to more than 500 tenants homes on the estates. Work will commence over the next few weeks and is scheduled to be completed by March next year.
The second phase of works will comprise the main repairs and improvement works to the exterior of the blocks and communal areas of the estates, together with the remaining internal improvements. These works are due to start early next year.
Bernard Cameron Chair of the Mile End Community Housing Trust said “I am delighted that work is about to commence on the first phase of the regeneration of our estates. We have waited a very long time for this and I am confident that the very thorough selection process we have been through will ensure that the contractors will perform efficiently. Everyone is looking forward to having a new kitchen and bathroom in their home.”
