last modified  03/04/2012 15:00 PM

Ward Councillors from Mile End led the celebrations at the opening of a new development of affordable homes for rent by EastendHomes in Tower Hamlets.
The new terrace of 5 bedroom houses in Brokesley Street are part of the regeneration of the Eric and Treby estates in Mile End. Councillor Motin Uz-Zaman, together with Councillors Rachael Saunders and Kosru Uddin spoke about the important contribution these new homes will make to helping to address housing need in Tower Hamlets, particularly overcrowded families.
The 8 new family homes in Brokesley Street were built for EastendHomes by development partner, Telford Homes as part of the 50 new affordable homes that EastendHomes are providing on these estates. The scheme is supported by almost £7 million in grant from the Homes & Community Agency.
Overall EastendHomes has invested some £86 million on improving its estates in Tower Hamlets since 2005.
Councillor Uz-Zaman, who is an EastendHomes Board member said that “This is another example of the fine work EastendHomes is doing on this estate and other estates in Tower Hamlets. It really shows what can be achieved when housing associations like EastendHomes work with the Council to help meet the housing need of local people in Tower Hamlets.”
