Help with keeping warm this winter

last modified  27/01/2012 09:00 AM

With cold weather setting in and the price of fuel at high levels, it is important that our residents feel able to afford to heat their homes and keep themselves warm.

The East End Energy Fit project is a new initiative launched by the Bromley by Bow Centre and Toynbee Hall, two charities with a long history of working in the East End of London.

In the words of the team themselves,

"The East End Energy Fit project is open to all individuals and families in need, hardship or other distress who are confronted with utilities arrears (gas, electricity, water) and are finding it hard to pay these off - we can help clear all their utilities debts off. We think this is increasingly relevant as the temperature dips and energy prices rise."

They can also help to:

  • Purchase essential household items such as beds, cookers, washing machines, refrigerators
  • Clear their telephone, council tax, rent payments
  • Apply to pay for bankruptcy, debt relief orders
  • Give general energy efficiency advice

To make an appointment, get in touch by sending your name and contact details to eastendenergyfit@bbbc.org.uk or eastendenergyfit@toynbeehall.org.uk.
Or, if you don't have access to email, ask your housing officer to make a referral on your behalf.
