EastendHomes opens new offices at Island Gardens and St Georges Estates
A fresh approach with EastendHomes begins
On Monday 16 January the transfer of the Island Gardens and St Georges estates from Tower Hamlets to EastendHomes was successfully completed.
This marked the end of almost two years of work following the selection of EastendHomes by the steering groups for these estates. Tenants voted in April last year to transfer to EastendHomes and since then detailed work has been ongoing in preparation for the transfer and the start of new locally based housing services.
At Island Gardens, our consultation office has been redesigned and will open on 16 January as the brand new Neighbourhood Centre. The redesign sees the former Council office refurbished extensively to provide equal access for all residents, plus a welcoming reception area. The full range of local housing management services will be available from the office, including rent enquiries.
At St Georges estate EastendHomes will initially be providing a local management service from the Tenants Association office at Shearsmith House, which has been temporarily converted to provide counter facilities. For the longer term EastendHomes will be identifying premises that can provide a good local base for the housing service at St Georges estate. These proposals will be progressed as fast as possible and residents will be kept fully informed of this.
