London Fire Brigade Strike - UPDATE

last modified  08/11/2010 11:00 AM

**The strike planned for the Bonfire Night weekend was called off following negotiations between the London Fire Brigade and the union. Talks to be chaired by the independent Resolution Advisory Panel have been arranged for 16th November. For the latest information on the progress in dealing with this industrial dispute see the London Fire Brigade website, or major news outlets.**

The Fire Brigades Union (FBU) has announced two 8-hour strikes in London due to a dispute with the London Fire Brigade management over changes to shift patterns. The first of the planned strikes is scheduled for Saturday 23rd October, from 10AM to 6PM. The second planned strike is set for Monday 1st November, at the same times.

During these times response from the London Fire Brigade to emergency calls may be slower than usual target timescales. In the event of a fire, as always you should call 999 at the first opportunity.

As a reminder, iIf you experience a problem with a lift, or you or another resident become trapped in a lift, you should not call the Fire Brigade unless the person(s) trapped have sustained an injury which will require an ambulance. For help with lift breakdowns you should contact Precision Lifts on 01708 250 800. These contact arrangements for lift breakdowns apply at all times - not just during this industrial dispute.

If you would like more information on the scheduled strikes, and advice on keeping your home safe, you can see the London Fire Brigade website. For general Fire Safety advice, see the LFB Home Fire Safety Guide and the EastendHomes Fire Safety leaflet.
