New board for Mile End

Following the recent formal elections the Mile End Community Housing Trust now has a new board made up of tenants and leaseholders from the British Street, Eric, Treby and Bede estates. The elections took place in May 2005 and were organised and administered by PPCR, the Independent Resident Advisers for Mile End.

The new board will be accountable for service provision in the area and in particular overseeing the move of the Mile End housing service from Southern Grove to the new housing centre in Wager Street. This is due to take place in August.

The board will also start to get to grips with the start of the major works and improvements programme which will be carried out on the Mile End estates over the next six years.

Bernard Cameron has been re-elected Chair of the Board. He will be assisted by two Vice Chairs who are Colin Antoine and Akhlaqur Choudhury.

Bernard Cameron said “I am delighted to have been re-elected as Chair. I would like to thank all the residents who took part in the elections and I am looking forward to working with the new board of the Mile End Community Housing Trust over the coming months as we embark on the improvements programme for our estates.”
