Wheler House Action Day - Holland Estate
06/04/2011 13:00 PM
Last Saturday ( 2 April ) saw the latest Block Action day take place at Wheler house.
Two weeks ago a mattress left on the communal landing was set alight causing the damage shown below.
The Fire Brigade, as is normal in this situation, visited the block shortly afterwards and reinforced the necessity for residents to keep communal landings clear of rubbish and flammable materials.
EastendHomes staff knocked on residents doors reminding them of how to dispose of unwanted household items and the need to keep communal areas clear of obstruction – unwanted items were removed free of charge by EastendHomes.
The Caretaking team then proceeded to sweep and wash the communal landings.
The Fire Brigade were also present for part of the day carrying out Home Fire Safety Visits to a number of properties and assisting our staff in getting the message across. Free smoke alarms were fitted to a number of properties. If you were not at home on Saturday and would like a Fire Safety Visit please contact your Local Housing Centre.
In the meantime please remember that communal landings must be kept clear of obstruction at all times.
If you have unwanted household items please contact Tower Hamlets FREE collection service on 020 7364 5004.
