How to buy your home

Did you know as a tenant you may have a preserved Right to Buy your home or the Right to Acquire your home?

Who can apply for the Right to Buy?

  • If you were originally given your tenancy by the Council and have since transferred to EastendHomes, you are likely to qualify for the Right to Buy (some exceptions apply)

  • If you were originally given your tenancy by EastendHomes, you may qualify for the Right to Acquire your home

The Department for Communities and Local Government has published several guides to help tenants who are considering making an application to buy their home.

The guidance booklet Your Right to Buy Your Home covers the main areas of information which you need to consider.

There is also a summary version of this booklet.

The leaflet Thinking of buying your council flat? goes through questions you may have before making an application to buy your home, and also looks at things you may not have considered, such as obligations you will be taking on.
