I am a leaseholder at St Georges Estate. Upon comparison of the 2006/07 and 2007/08 actual service charges, there appears to be an increase of approximately 50%, with caretaking charges being the worst hit. Considering that the standard and the frequency of the cleaning has remained the same, I tried hard to get a reasonable explanation for the increase from EeH, with no success. Unfortunately, there are other unreasonable charges, such as normally estate-wide charges (like LBTH drains) being under Block charges, as well as communal heating repairs and CCTV charges, being under estate- wide charges, instead of Block charges of the Blocks they benefit. The list is endless.
Despite I tried to bring all the above to EeH attention, it appears that EeH is not interested. The result is that the issues have now been escalated to the LVT for arbitration.
I am aware that other leaseholders have applied to the LVT about “unreasonable charges”.
